Who am I to say [Chapter 1]

It was a Saturday afternoon and Selena was as lazy as the day was. "Fences" was blaring through her speakers in the room while she was laying on her bed, staring at the ceiling when all of a sudden she heard her window opened. She heard it crack open but did not bother to see who it was because no one would do that but one guy.
She closed her eyes and opened it after a second. She saw Joe's face grinning at her stupidly.
"Hey bee." Joe greeted her.
"Hey." Selena greeted blankly.
"What's wrong?"
"That's the main problem. There's nothing wrong. I'm bored like hell." She looked at him with angry eyes. "And it's all your fault!" She hit his arm.
His jaw dropped with a smile. "And how did that become my fault?"
"Coz you were supposed to be here this morning. All I did all day was listen to my Mom blabbing about my sister's angelic attitude. Oh my. You cannot imagine how I wanted to die during breakfast and lunch. Dad is just smiling like an idiot every time I roll my eyes at mom."
Joe chuckled. "Bee, why do you hate Camilla so much? I mean, she's really nice."
She stared at him. "Now, even my best friend is not on my team."
"No. What I meant was what makes you hate her?"
"I really dunno. I guess maybe one of the reasons is that we have different dads. Lucky for me, mine is still alive and with me. I just feel like she always tries to be good to people so she's always better than me. She even puts the blame on me whenever she does something bad. Worse, everybody believes everything she says and I always turn out to be the bitch." She shrugged.
"Well, good for you...she's gone for college."
"Which is bad news for you." She looked at him.
"Look, you know I have the biggest crush on her but I love my best friend. You're my bee, Selena." He opened his arms to offer her a hug.
Selena looked away then stared at him. "I can't resist your hug. You're such an expert on snuggling. I love you, bay." She hugged him back.
"I love you too, bee." He tightened the hug. "You know, we have such nice nicknames for each other. 'Bay' and 'Bee'. If they go together, they compose 'Baby'."
"Yeah. Very creative of us." she said.
"Ha! It pretty cute, you know. Anyways, I need something...." He looked around. "Something called food."
Selena chuckled. "Hungry,much?"
"Are you kidding me? I'm starving."
"Come on." She took his hand. "Let's go downstairs. We have chocolate nachos."
Joe quickly stood up. "Really?"
"Yeah. Mom won't let me eat them but since you're here, I think she's gonna let us. She has the biggest crush on you."
"Oh come on, bee. Your mom is too old for me."
"And you don't think I know that? I've been telling her that and she says that it's just crush. It's not like she's gonna jump on you in any moment." She saw the look on Joe's face.
"Did I scare you, bay?" she asked.
"No. You just terrified me."
"Ha! Seriously, don't mind her. She's probably playing around with you."
Joe nodded.
"Now, let's go!" She pulled Joe downstairs.

Selena looked around with a nervous face. Joe stepped quietly towards her.
"Your mom is nowhere to be found. All places are cleared."
"Seriously, stop that."
He straightened. "Oh look who's talking. You were looking around nervously."
She turned to him. "I wasn't!"
"You were!"
"I wasn't!" She exclaimed.
"You were!" He shot back.
"I told you I wasn't!" She said;irritated.
"You weren't looking around."
"I was!" She quickly covered her mouth. "Ooopsies."
"I just love how I always own you, bee." He flashed a cocky grin and pinched her cheeks.
"Stop it. You're making them more chubby." She went to the cabinet to get a container.
"Ha! So you admitted your cheeks are chubby."
"You always tell me they are."
"They really are, bee."
"Well...thankyouverymuch." She said with sarcasm.
"You're welcome. Anyways, hurry up. My stomach can't wait any longer."
"Just wait. I think my mom moved the nachos to another place."
"Seriously, she would do that to you?"
"You know my mom. What Selena wants, Selena does not get. What Selena does not want, Selena gets."
"Aww. Do you want me to come over here every time so she will always be nice to you?"
"No, thanks. If she would be nice to me, I want it to be really from the heart."
"Now we're talking about miracles."
"Tell me about it." She rolled her eyes. "Stupid nachos! They're nowhere to be found."
"They're at the lower right side." A voice from behind them spoke.
They both looked slowly at her. "Hey mom." Selena greeted with shaking voice.
"Hey Mrs. Mandy." Joe greeted and plastered the best smile that he could display on his face.
She looked at Selena with narrowed eyes then turned to Joe with a smile. "What are you doing here, Joseph?"
"Uhmm...it's saturday and I figured Bee and I..I mean Selena and I could hang out and eat some nachos." He turned to Selena.
"Yeah, mom."
"Well, can you stay over for dinner? We're going to have barbecue."
Selena went between them. "I think that would be impossible. Joe and I are going over to Demi's tonight. You know, some friends thingy." She let out fake chuckle.
Mandy looked at Joe for confirmation and Joe nodded.
"Fine. You don't know what you're missing. But you have to eat here tomorrow, Joseph."
Joe gulped. "Yes, ma-am."
She turned to Selena. "Clean the mess after you eat."
"Okay, mom."
"Enjoy the nachos, Joseph."
"I definitely will, ma-am."
Mandy then left.
"That was one of the most awkward conversations ever!"
"I know, right!?" She sat beside Joe on the counter and put the nachos on the bowl then poured the chocolate syrup. "Bon Appetit!"

Who am I to say? [Trailer]

Joseph and Selena
have been the best of friends since forever. They have the same circle of friends. All of them are pushing them to date but they never did. Everyone sees that they would make the perfect couple except them.
Everyone sees Selena as a lesbian because she never dated a guy in her life. Joe is getting tired of all the pressure their friends are giving them. He came up with an idea of pretending that him && Selena are dating to stop their friends from pushing them and telling that his best friend is a lesbian.
Everything seems to be flowing in the right way. But what happens when one of the pretenders is not a pretender anymore? What if one of them realizes that all this time, they were meant to be and the other one does not see that? What if someone realizes that pretending to pretend is harder than pretending to love your best friend? Is it worth it to risk a lifetime friendship for something only one feels?

Find out in "Who am I to say?".
